Moving Tips and Home Decor Ideas
A Shade Better
A cheaper way of moving and storing. Sam.

If you want to create a nice reflection on your home, invest in lighting. The right lighting can make a smaller room seem more spacious, or a larger room feel cozier.

Here are some other bright ideas:

  • Consider light bulbs. Halogen bulbs cast a different type of light than incandescent lighting.
  • Dim the lights. Available at hardware stores for just a few bucks, dimmers can provide instant atmosphere.
  • Shop for interesting shades. A quick lamp-shade change can make a dramatic difference.
  • Point it out. Spot lighting can help illuminate artwork or a particular area of your home you want to accentuate.
  • Find a pro. Always use a professional electrician when installing light fixtures.

Happy Tails

The boxes are packed, and you’ve found new schools for your children. But, let’s not forget Rover and Kitty. When it comes to moving with your pets, here are some things to consider:

Research state laws and regulations – nearly every state has laws regarding the entry of pets, so check to see what they are.

Take your pet to the vet – make sure your pet is up to date with inoculations and make sure to ask for your pet’s records.

Lawns Cry for water during the summer

Obtain pet identification – in addition to rabies tags, make an ID tag with your pet’s name, your name, address and an emergency contact.

Familiarize your pet with your new surroundings – use your pet’s food and water dishes, bed and toys so your dog or cat will “feel at home” in your new location.

On the Road Again

Our moving van drivers have the rare opportunity to see this country from coast to coast, discovering all kinds of interesting fun facts along the way. So, it makes perfect sense to share that knowledge with children.

That’s the thought behind the Discover America program, which pairs drivers with fourth- and fifth-grade classrooms across the country in a free program that allows students to follow drivers as they crisscross the nation.

This gives students a chance to learn about the geography and history of the cities along the way, with monthly letters and souvenirs sent back from the drivers’ travels. An average of 7,000 students participate
in the program each year.
