Welcome to the online edition of American Journeys, a lifestyle magazine for customers and friends of Mayflower.

Tyler, Texas, located near Dallas, is known as the Rose Capital of the Nation. That’s because the rose industry pumps an estimated $12 million into the local economy each year.
But the real reason to head to Tyler is for the annual Rose Festival, held in mid-October, which includes four days of art shows, floral displays and special events, all honoring the rose. You’ll also want to
stop at the Tyler Rose Garden, which is the largest municipal rose garden in the country, with more
than 500 varieties and about 38,000 plants.

Things That Go Bump in the Night
Imagine curling up in your sleeping bag underneath a 94-foot-long blue whale. That’s what’s in store for families and groups with children ages 8 to 12 who take part in the American Museum of Natural History’s popular sleepover program.
A Night at the Museum gives kids a chance to explore the New York museum’s many interesting exhibits, including a 65-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus rex, the Hall of North American Mammals and the Hayden Planetarium. Dates sell out fast, so reserve your space at www.amnh.org/kids/sleepovers. Cost is $70 for members/$79 for nonmembers, and a late-night snack and breakfast are included.
